Kurama may reopen in less than a month

BY AMY FENNELL CHRISTIAN

AUGUSTA, GA- There are rumors swirling that the much-beloved and much-missed Kurama Japanese Seafood and Steak House at 2834 Washington Road may reopen in as little as three weeks. Kurama, as many fans may remember, was heavily damaged in a March 2006 fire, and the structure has sat mocking us ever since. Word has it that the daughter and son-in-law of the owners will be running the place with an emphasis on sushi and specialty drinks. We wish we had more information to impart, but we can’t get anyone to answer the phones. That’s OK, though… we’d rather have them working on the place than talking to us. That way, it might open sooner.

Famous Dave’s arguably has one of the best kids nights in the area. Not only do they offer 99 cent kids meals with adult orders, but they entertain the little ones with face-painting, balloon animals, clowns and giveaways. The festivities remain, but now the day has changed, with kids night moving to Mondays. When you visit, be sure you check out their new menu items, including a hand-cut ribeye, homemade mac and cheese (how in the world did they survive without that?) and mashed sweet potatoes. Famous Dave’s is at 2821 Washington Rd., 706-733-6155 or visit famousdaves.com.
