Looks like things are heating up again for Sentinel Offender Services, the private probation company responsible for so much misery. Remember the woman who filed the police report claiming her ex-boyfriend gave her boss naked photos of her? That woman was a Sentinel employee. Why does that matter? After all, if you’re going to have a relationship with a paroled murderer, doesn’t stuff like that just sort of come with the territory? It matters because, if she were a state probation officer or a parole officer, she could be arrested for having a relationship with anybody who’s under sentence, and a paroled murder is pretty much the definition of someone under sentence. But she’s not a state probation officer or a parole officer. She works for a private probation company, so the paroled murderer gets arrested instead, and not because he gave away the nude photo of her — that was his to give away — but because the woman who received it didn’t want to, making the delivery a misdemeanor case of distributing obscene material. According to sources close to the case, Sentinel wants this to go away. Bad. There are rumors that somebody pulled some strings to get the parole yanked, and some are even questioning whether or not the jilted wife actually sent the photos. Point is, they want the guy back to North Carolina. Maybe the arrest sticks and he goes back to jail, maybe they just have him serve his parole over there. Either way, it’s out of sight, out of mind. Another problem swept away.
